Weekly Intimations for 30th August
This week our intimations are being posted separately from the main service. You an listen to them by clicking here, or continue reading below. They will also be available on our phone service by selecting Option 3.
Hello everyone and welcome to the intimations for this Sunday, the 30th August, from Kirkgate Parish Church in Saltcoats. Things are a wee bit different this week as we have our Sole Nominee, Rev Nigel Chikanya preaching for us. The service will be available to view as a video from 10am on Sunday morning here on our website. It will also be available as the usual audio file on our phone service and podcasting sites.
All members and adherents to the church roll have been sent a printed ballot paper with instructions on how to return it, but in summary, it needs to be returned to Vivien Bruce our Session Clerk and Returning Officer no later than 5pm on Saturday 5th September. Her address is on the letter and website if you wish to post it or hand deliver it.
Alternatively the church hall will be open at the following times for ballot papers to be handed in:
Tuesday 1st Sept: 2.30-3.30pm
Thursday 3rd Sept: 10.30-11.30am
Friday 4th Sept: 6.00-7.00pm
So hopefully one of those times or options will be suitable. If you have any problems in returning the ballot paper, please contact Vivien who will try to assist you.

For members of the Kirk Session, a reminder that there will be a short but important meeting via Zoom on Sunday 6th September at 1pm, the purpose of which is to verify and count the votes received for or against our sole nominee, before announcing the result. Meeting details and how to join the Zoom call have been emailed out by the Session Clerk, but there is also a phone number available for any elders without internet facilities to dial in to the meeting – contact Vivien Bruce for details of that.
The next Kirkgate By Request programme will be available next Sunday evening and Sun 30th Aug is the last day to send your requests or dedications in for it, you can email me at requests@kirkgatechurch.org.uk.
Sun 30th Aug is also the last day for anyone wishing to contribute an article for the next Kirkgate Messenger – please send it to Elizabeth McMahon. The magazine won’t be published till around Sunday 13th Sept to allow us to include updates on the vacancy results.
All members should also have received a letter with full information on our restarting of Sunday and midweek services. We will be reopening the church for our Sunday services next Sunday, the 6th September but with limited capacity – with 2m social distancing, numbers are limited to just 20 people in the large hall, including the preacher, organist and those on duty. Initially there will be two short services available both lasting 30 minutes – one at the slightly earlier time of 10.30am and the other at 11.45am. The Thursday services will also start on 10th September at 10.30am. To attend you will need to book a seat in advance by contacting Mima McSwan on 01294 602410. Please do not turn up without booking a seat as space may not be available. The full letter and explanatory FAQ document is available to view on our website. We will still have the online services available via our website next week – if all goes to plan, we should initially have a live feed from the church hall of the 10.30am service, but we’re still working out the full technical details for getting the service published everywhere – bear with us if there’s a delay in getting it all uploaded, as we wrestle with some new equipment!
These are all the intimations for this week and we hope that you enjoy this week’s service by Nigel Chikanya when it broadcasts – you’ll recognise a few local scenes in it.
